Multimedia/Video Editor

The Multimedia Editor will work to produce high quality video and audio projects that both accompany articles and stand alone. He or she will work with a video staff to brainstorm ideas and film videos that interest readers further and can turn viral online. He or she will coordinate with editorial staff and desk editors to develop audio projects, including a podcast network, relevant to each desk. The 2015-16 Multimedia Editor will be vital in the evolution of The Crimson White, responsible for developing ideas on how to further incorporate multimedia elements into our different platforms, so that we can be a more well-rounded multimedia organization.

Position: Paid

The Video Editor will:

• assign at least one video project per production day, including event coverage, documentary or a hybrid
• personally produce at least one video product per week
• Coordinate production of The Crimson White podcast network
• work with desk editors to assure video coverage of important events
• work with the Digital Managing Editor to create online multimedia packages

This position requires:

• extensive experience with Final Cut Pro editing software
• good interviewing skills and knowledge of documentary style
• expertise with different video-capable cameras
• expansive knowledge of video techniques
• ability to develop ideas for making video elements a more prominent part of our product
• ability to develop ideas for making audio elements a more prominent part of our product.
